What is this project?
This project started in 2021 as an initiative of the Aeromodelism club of ISAE-Supaero. The goal is to build a demonstrator of the airplane of the future
Indeed, it combines 3 futuristic ideas, that don't necessary go together, but surely make this project more chalenging: Hydrogen powering, VTOL aircraft and beeing a flying wing at the same time.
Hydrogen
Kestrel will be powered with a 800W PEM Fuell Cell and a 300 bars 3L composite tank
VTOL
Kestrel will have the flexibility to take off vertically, which is the future for air-taxis
Flying wing
Kestrel is a certain kind of flying wing which is the key for implementing hydrogen in aviation for the large volumes it requires
